01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
At Kushitaro, you can order kushikatsu one skewer at a time. Diners have praised the light batter, which lets the ingredients come through, and the choice of both meat and vegetables. Prawns are 230 yen, scallops 280 yen and asparagus 180 yen. For meat, beef cutlet and pork fillet are each 120 yen, so you can pick individual skewers to suit your taste. Another diner singled out the prawns’ springy texture and the scallops’ juiciness; ordering one of each seafood skewer could be a good place to start.
Between skewers, there are small dishes such as edamame, grated daikon with dried young sardines, and wakame seaweed with ponzu. Beer and other alcoholic drinks are also available, making this a good spot for an evening of drinks and a few skewers.
Whether you’re after a light meal of a few skewers or a fuller dinner, there are options to finish things off. One diner enjoyed rice porridge after the kushikatsu, and the menu also lists ochazuke and a yakitori rice bowl. The restaurant is closed on Thursdays and opens on other days from 17:30 until 0:00 the following day. If you have time for a leisurely meal, you can plan to stay through to the final dish.
